The G.A.P. House
Community Kitchen

We are partnering with Old Salem Baptist Church to bring fresh, reliable food access to families across Memphis every single week.

Overview

A weekly kitchen built for the whole community.

The G.A.P. House Community Kitchen will open its doors every Tuesday to support individuals and families across Memphis. This program is made possible through a partnership between Empower Memphis Project and Old Salem Baptist Church, two organizations coming together with a shared goal of expanding access to food and strengthening the community we both call home.

Each week, we will offer a reliable and welcoming space where neighbors can receive food with dignity. We believe consistency matters just as much as the food itself, and we are committed to being here, every Tuesday, for as long as Memphis needs us.

Why this matters

Food access in Memphis

Food access is about more than cost.

For many families in Memphis, the challenge is not just affording food. It is getting to it. A lack of nearby grocery stores, limited transportation, and long distances all stand in the way of something as basic as a meal. These barriers are real, and they affect people who are working hard every day to provide for their families.

The G.A.P. House Community Kitchen was created to meet people where they are, removing as many of those barriers as we can so that getting food feels simple, dependable, and dignified.

Who we serve

Built for the neighbors who need us most.

Our mission is to provide steady, reliable access to food in a way that feels respectful and welcoming. That means showing up for the many different people across our community who are each facing their own version of the same struggle.
